Busch was the Dodgers first round pick in the 2019 Draft and projects to start the 2022 season at the AAA level. All of his value lies in his power and discipline offensive profile as he’s a below average defender at best at the 2B position.
For me Busch has a similiar offensive profile to that of Max Muncy. Busch is a very patient hitter (5.6 AB/UBB in his MiLB career) who also has plus juice in his left-handed bat. There’s also significant swing and miss in the profile as Busch has posted a 25% K rate so far in the Minors and his bat path features significant steepness to it which leaves some holes to exploit.
He’s not going to provide value on the defensive end other than completing the routine play on a regular basis. His hands are rigid and he has below average lateral range. The arm is fringey so he’ll be limited to 1B/2B in the dirt. I’m not sold he stays at 2B much longer unless he makes drastic strides but he’ll be someone who forces his way into the lineup just as Muncy did early in his Dodgers career.
