Frame: Long and lean with plenty of room for added strength in the future.
Delivery: Works out of the stretch, high leg kick, 1/4 turn, drifts, drop & drive, falls to 1B, doesn’t repeat, effort involved, long stride, head whack.
Arm Action: Medium arm circle, stab, quick, inconsistent timing, high elbow, recoil.
FB: There’s no doubt at all in my eyes what Misiorowski’s bread and butter pitch is and that’s his 4-seam heater. Once the frame fully matures I see him as an arm that will sit in the 80-grade velocity territory.
Not only does Misiorowski have a present FB that sits in the mid-90’s, the offering also has plus carry through the zone and plays especially well in the upper quadrants of the zone. He’ll also get run on the offering, but the life is what generates the whiffs.
There are many traits of Misiorowski’s FB that are appealing and effective. However, his feel for commanding the offering is not one of them. He had several streaks of filling up the zone in the previous outing I saw, but the spot-up ability I believe will peak at well-below average.
SL/CH: Misiorowski relies almost exclusively on his slider in terms of his secondary arsenal. His best ones show two-plane break and late tilt. He often gets on the side of the offering which turns the pitch into more of a short 3/4 breaker. Both versions of the SL flash average teeth and bite but it’s an offering that relies heavily on chases from batters. He has only thrown a handful of CH’s in my looks at him and it’s a low-impact pitch that has slight fading action but he also tends to slow his arm and telegraph the offering. I don’t see the CH being a usable offering at the pro level.
Summation: I have Misiorowski projected as a future 40 grade Middle RP. He projects to have top-shelf velocity on his 4-seamer once the frame adds more strength and matures. In addition to that, he also has above-average life on his FB at present with solid carry through the zone. His slider accompies his FB in the arsenal and is a two-plane breaker when at its best. He lacks feel for landing the pitch but it showed enough tightness and bite for me to believe it can be an average pitch for him in the future. He has a rough delivery that he has trouble repeating which leads to control issues and is the reason I believe his ceiling will be that of a lower-leverage Middle RP.
